Create an account. No credit card needed.
- 02
Bring a character
Upload your own model or pick a character template.
- 03
Animate it
Pose, keyframe, and sequence by hand, or ask Nira for a first pass.
- 04
Export
Download an animated GLB for your engine or 3D tool.
What you can do for free
The Free plan is a working animation studio, not a trial. Everything you need to animate a character by hand is included:
- Load your own character (GLB, GLTF, FBX, DAE, or ZIP) or start from a built-in character template.
- Pose the character with bone controls and live IK.
- Set keyframes on a timeline and adjust timing.
- Arrange clips in the sequencer to build a longer performance.
- Export the animated character as GLB or GLTF for Unity, Unreal, Godot, Roblox, Blender, or the web.
Where AI comes in
Manual animation is free. The AI features, auto-rigging an unrigged mesh, generating motion from a text prompt, and chatting with Nira, run on GPUs and use tokens. Every new account gets 50 tokens, enough to auto-rig a character (20 tokens) and generate a couple of short clips (10 tokens plus 2 per second each).
So a common free workflow is to let Nira rig your character and block out a first motion, then refine it by hand on the timeline, which costs nothing.
How it compares to other free tools
Blender is free and far deeper, but it is a large desktop install with a steep learning curve. Mixamo is free but only offers a fixed library of humanoid clips, with no editing. Nira sits in between: a focused character-animation studio in the browser, with AI to speed up the parts that are hardest to learn, rigging and blocking motion.
What the Free plan does not include
Free projects are saved locally in your browser rather than in the cloud, and saved chats, the motion library, and animation packs come with paid plans. When you run out of tokens, you can keep animating by hand, buy a one-time token pack, or upgrade.
Frequently asked questions
Is Nira really free?
Yes. Loading characters, posing, keyframing, sequencing, and GLB export are free. AI features use tokens, and every account gets 50 free tokens on signup.
Do I need a credit card to sign up?
No. You can sign up and use the Free plan without entering payment details.
Can I export animations on the Free plan?
Yes. GLB and GLTF export is included on every plan, including Free.
What happens when my free tokens run out?
You can keep animating by hand at no cost. To use AI rigging or motion generation again, buy a one-time token pack or choose a paid plan.
Is there a free 3D animation tool that works online?
Nira runs entirely in the browser, so there is nothing to download. It works in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox, and Safari.
