AI auto-rigging
AI auto-rigging for any 3D character
Upload a mesh and Nira adds the skeleton and skin weights for you. Humanoids, four-legged creatures, birds, dragons, even props and plants are rigged in the browser, with no plugin to install.
Not just humanoids
Most auto-riggers stop at bipeds in a T-pose. Nira rigs quadrupeds, birds, dragons, and any other shape you give it.
Skeleton and skinning in one step
Nira places the bones and computes the skin weights, so the character deforms as soon as it moves.
Checked before you export
The rig checker flags skinning problems, retargeting risk, and Unity or Unreal compatibility issues before they reach your engine.
How it works
- 01
Upload your mesh
Drop a GLB, GLTF, FBX, DAE, or ZIP file into the studio.
- 02
Ask Nira to rig it
Nira picks a skeleton type, places the bones, and computes skin weights.
- 03
Check the rig
Pose the character and run the rig checker to catch problems early.
- 04
Animate or export
Generate motion straight away, or download the rigged GLB.
What AI auto-rigging does
Rigging is the step that turns a static mesh into something that can move: a hierarchy of bones, plus skin weights that say how much each bone pulls on each vertex. Done by hand it takes a technical artist hours per character, and it is the step most indie teams and solo creators get stuck on.
Nira uses an AI rigging model to predict the skeleton and the skin weights directly from your mesh. You drop in a file, tell Nira what the character is if it needs a hint, and get back a rigged character you can pose, animate, and export.
What Nira can rig
Nira's AI rigging model is not limited to a fixed list of skeletons. It predicts a rig that fits the mesh in front of it, so it handles the character shapes that come up most in games and animation, and plenty that do not:
- Humanoids: bipeds with a standard spine, arm, leg, and head hierarchy, ready for retargeting.
- Quadrupeds: four-legged creatures such as dogs, horses, and foxes.
- Birds: wings, tail, and a bird-style leg chain.
- Fantasy creatures: dragons, monsters, and anything with extra limbs, wings, or tails.
- Props and plants: anything that needs to bend or sway, from a tree to a tentacle.
Supported file formats
Nira imports GLB, GLTF, FBX, and DAE models, as well as ZIP archives that bundle a model with its textures. Rigged and animated characters export as GLB or GLTF, which Unity, Unreal Engine, Godot, Blender, Roblox Studio, and three.js all read.
When to fix a rig by hand
AI rigging gets most characters to a usable rig in one pass. For hero characters you may still want to adjust a joint or tidy a weight region. Nira keeps the rig editable in the studio, so you can make those fixes without leaving the browser or re-rigging from scratch.
Frequently asked questions
Can Nira rig non-humanoid characters?
Yes. Nira's AI rigging model rigs quadrupeds, birds, dragons, and other non-humanoid meshes as well as humanoids.
Does my character need to be in a T-pose?
A neutral T-pose or A-pose gives the cleanest result for humanoids, but it is not required. If the character faces the wrong way, you can rotate it to face front before rigging.
How much does auto-rigging cost?
One auto-rig uses 20 tokens. New accounts get 50 free tokens on signup, so you can rig a character without paying. Paid plans include more tokens each month.
Which formats can I export?
Rigged characters export as GLB or GLTF, including any animation clips you created.
Bring your character to life
