Animation retargeting
Retarget animation to any character, without bone mapping
Use one motion on many characters. Nira works out how two skeletons correspond and transfers the animation, so you do not have to map bones by hand.
Automatic bone mapping
Nira identifies the spine, limbs, hands, and head on each rig and pairs them up.
Different proportions
Motion adapts to characters with longer legs, shorter arms, or a different scale.
Grounded results
Foot contacts are kept on the floor, so retargeted walks do not skate.
Why retargeting usually hurts
Every rig names and orients its bones differently. Moving a clip from one to another normally means building a bone map, fixing rest-pose differences, and cleaning up sliding feet afterwards. It is tedious, and it is repeated for every new character.
How Nira retargets
Nira analyses each skeleton to find its roles (hips, spine, legs, arms, fingers, head) and builds the mapping for you. It then transfers the motion while accounting for differences in proportion and rest pose, and it grounds the result so the feet stay planted.
Generated clips, motion-library clips, and animation packs can all be applied to the characters you upload.
Check retarget risk first
Not every rig is a good retargeting target. The rig checker reports retargeting risk, such as missing bones, unusual hierarchies, or skinning problems, before you commit, so you know what will transfer cleanly.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to map bones manually?
No. Nira detects each skeleton's structure and maps the bones automatically.
Can I retarget to a character from another tool?
Yes. Upload any rigged GLB, GLTF, FBX, or DAE character and Nira can retarget motion onto it.
Does retargeting work between humanoids and creatures?
Retargeting works best between characters with a similar structure, such as humanoid to humanoid. For creatures, Nira writes animation directly on the rig instead.
Bring your character to life
Upload a mesh and Nira rigs it, animates it, and exports it. New accounts start with 50 free tokens.
