Comparison
Nira vs Mixamo
Both auto-rig 3D characters and give them animation. The difference is where the motion comes from, what characters they can handle, and what you can do with the result.

Choose Nira for
Creatures, custom motion from text, editing, and an actively developed tool.
Choose Mixamo for
Free stock humanoid mocap clips and FBX export.
Use both
Rig in either, then use Nira to edit and extend the motion.
Rigging
Mixamo's auto-rigger places markers on a humanoid and rigs it, and it works well on clean, T-posed bipeds. It cannot rig anything else. Nira's AI rigging model rigs humanoids, quadrupeds, birds, dragons, and other shapes, fitting a skeleton to whatever mesh you give it.
Animation
Mixamo gives you a large but fixed library of motion-captured humanoid clips, with a few sliders per clip. If the motion you need is not there, you are stuck. Nira generates new motion from a text description, honours constraints like planted feet, and puts the result on a full timeline with a sequencer and IK.
Pipeline and price
Mixamo is free with an Adobe account and exports FBX and DAE. Nira is free for manual animation and export, with 50 signup tokens for AI and paid plans for more, runs in the browser, and exports GLB and GLTF, the format Unity (via glTFast), Unreal, Godot, Roblox, Blender, and three.js all read.
Verdict
If you need a free stock walk cycle on a humanoid, Mixamo still does the job. For anything beyond that, such as creatures, custom motion, edits, or a tool that is still improving, Nira is the stronger choice.
